The inaugural pickled onion contest was a resounding success with 17 entries submitted to be sampled at the New Inn last Friday. The judges took their task seriously, checking the augmented alliums and scoring on a marking sheet. The winner was Claudine Barnes who took home the magnificent trophy, a bottle of wine and unlimited bragging rights.
