Thank you to all of you who suggested such a variety (and number) of charities to support as our ’New Inn House Charity’ for 2023. We have a very worthy winner, the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Service and we look forward to working closely with them, and raising plenty of money for them, over the next 11-12 months. The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Service flies two air ambulances across the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland. These two helicopters provide a rapid response to trauma and medical emergencies over an area of 3850 square miles covering many of the UK’s major road networks including the M1, M6, M69 and M42. Their critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of ten rescue missions a day and within minutes can be on the ground delivering lifesaving care at road traffic collisions, sports events and industrial accidents or for medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, stroke or accidents in the home. The air ambulance carries the very latest lifesaving equipment and gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery.
The air ambulance team is also supported by Critical Care Cars that provide valuable backup for incidents close to the helicopter base or when the weather makes it too dangerous to fly. This enables doctors and critical care paramedics to run a night car service so that they are available to reach those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The Air Ambulance Service receives no funding for their daily missions from the government or National Lottery and so they rely entirely on donations to raise the £1,700 needed for each rescue mission.
With an average response of just 13 minutes, between them they attend on average 10 missions a day. You may well have seen them in the skies above you. They have saved thousands of lives in our local communities.
