the New Inn Bug Hotel

Nurturing Nature would like to provide hidey-holes for creatures galore. Building a bug hotel (also known as a wildlife hotel or stack) in the Enchanted Garden will provide a safe hideaway for wildlife and help make use of your garden waste. A well-built hotel can shelter anything from hedgehogs to toads, solitary bees to bumblebees, and ladybirds to woodlice

To provide materials for this, if you have any of the following please could you email pippa@thenewinn.pub.

Old wooden pallets
Strips of wood
Straw
Moss
Dry leaves
Woodchips
Old terracotta pots
Bricks, preferably those with holes through them

Old roofing tiles
Old logs
Bark
Pinecones
Hollow bamboo canes
Planks of wood
Dead hollow stems cut from shrubs and herbaceous plants.

In May, join us in the Enchanted Garden to plant your sunflower seed: while you are there enjoy Kate’s Storytree and explore the residents of the bug hotels. Take your sunflower home and nurture it, returning to the garden with it in June to plant it in the garden. Judging will take place in September. It’s only £2 per child to join in the fun.

in August Bedtime Stories

in August Stories Under the Stars

Kate’s Storytree will be setting up under the trees in the garden with blankets and cushions to read you bedtime stories while you gaze at the stars. Come dressed for bed, all teddy bears welcome. We’ll also be offering hot chocolate and homemade biscuits. Keep an eye on the Events Page to see the details & dates for this event.

in December Christmas Decorations

in December Christmas Decorations

During the build-up to Christmas, it is difficult to find activities to engage little ones in the open air, join us in the garden to make decorations to adorn the pub’s outdoor tree. Using natural materials you can design your own. We will also be serving hot chocolate and homemade biscuits.

Nurturing Nature at the New Inn is a not-for-profit group, all monies raised from events will be used for future events and to maintain the children’s garden.
